Loving...

TGIF friends!

It has been a great week over here and I am excited for a 3 day weekend!

I haven't done a Loving... post in a while, so I thought it would be fun to put one together today! I am hoping to make them a monthly or maybe even bi-monthly post in 2015! I also am sharing exactly FIVE things I am loving so that I can participate in the Five on Friday link-up for the first time ever! Here goes...

1. First up, I am loving that this gorgeous RICHMOND home featured in my all time favorite magazine, Traditional Home, this month! I can't wait to see the full spread in the magazine! Take a peek online here!

This is my favorite photo from the space:

2. Next up, I have a funny for you: I am loving that I have dental insurance! Monday night Bryce grilled bacon-wrapped duck...from his hunting trip last week. He always warns me to be careful when biting down, because you never know when a stray piece of shot could be in your bite. Wellll...as you can imagine I bit down a little too hard into some shot and chipped a tooth! Fortunately my dentist was able to fit me in the next afternoon and the filling required was fully covered by insurance! All I could think when telling the dentist how I chipped my tooth was "You might be a redneck if..."

If it weren't for dental insurance,
my grins would have to be closed-mouthed like these forever!

3. I have also been loving The Wonder Years lately! A week or so ago, Bryce and I were looking for something light and upbeat to watch on Netflix and stumbled upon The Wonder Years. Bryce loved the show as a kid and I had never watched it, so we started with Season 1 and have been binge watching it ever since! It has been such a happy part of our evenings of late! The last show we binge watched was Dexter, so this has been quite the change!

4. Next up I am loving, obsessing, lusting, and drooling over this cape! I have been really into capes for a while now and ever since seeing this pin I can't get them out of my head! I know I am trying to save in the new year, BUT, this would totally be an investment piece right? Not to mention, it's 50% off and timeless! I could wear this when I'm 50! What do y'all think!?

5. And as always, I can't resist ending with an eCard I'm loving...

In honor of watching The Wonder Years...

What have you been loving lately?

What shows do you binge watch? We also just started Peaky Blinders due to the suggestion of some girls at book club this week and are enjoying it!

Have a great weekend!

Loving...SLACKER Edition

Happy Friday friends!

It's been a fun week, but super busy!

I'm sorry that I don't have a post for you, but here's a little something I'm loving today!

This week the laundry hasn't even made it into the washer!

Sorry I've been a blogging slacker...be back next week with some fun posts!

Loving...

A much happier Friday over here today!

This week has been much better than last and we have an exciting weekend of wedding festivities ahead!  Our good friends S & C are tying the knot on a farm tomorrow and Bryce is a groomsman!  I'm excited to have an excuse to throw on my cowboy boots and dance!

Here's a look at some of the things I'm loving this week:

Those of you who follow along on IG, know that I scored this on sale last Sunday and am obsessed!  Thinking of wearing it to tonight's rehearsal dinner...

I'm loving our fall tablescape, complete with flowers Bryce brought home to me last week when I was at my lowest!

These pants take neutral to a fabulous new level!

Is it just me, or is this pillow to die for?

Wishing I had an iPhone 5 so I could get this cutie...

And finally, since I'm feeling back to my old self again, we'll end with an eCard!

This is how I'm feeling about tonight's rehearsal.  It's a hike to the venue so Bryce and I should really ride together, BUT...he has to be there at 4, and I would much rather arrive pretty!

What are you loving this week?

Have a great weekend!

The Lion King

Happy Tuesday friends!

Last night Bryce and I went to see The Lion King in 3D!  It was so fun and I actually think I liked it even better last night than I did as a kid.

Rocking the 3D Glasses

I usually don't get snacks at the theater, but as y'all can see, last night we went all out!  My favorite movie-going tip is to get popcorn and M&Ms--dump some of the M&Ms into the popcorn and you have the perfect mix of sweet and salty...delicious!

In honor of the movie last night, I figured I'd brighten up your Tuesday with some fabulous Lion King songs, I'm sure you all can sing along to!  (If you're at work, just sing quietly, hehe!)

"The Circle of Life"

"Hakuna Matata"

"I Just Can't Wait to Be King"

Have a great day!!

Leisure Diving

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Many people here in Richmond are still without power, so I am very thankful ours came back on so quickly.

Did anyone get the chance to watch The Today Show yesterday?

I tuned in for a few minutes and really enjoyed their segment on "Leisure Diving."  Have any of y'all heard of it?

LeisureDive.com features all sorts of crazy photos of people leisurely diving/falling into pools with props and costumes.

The key to a good leisure dive, according to Today, was having a casual face, not one of "I'm about to dive in a pool with my clothes on!"

Here are a few of my favorites found on their website:

"Hawaii Dive-O"

"Nap Dive"

"Hotdoggin Dive"

"Sunday at the Library Dive"

"Pool Service Dive"

We have a pool in our backyard and this kind of makes me want to try a leisure dive...I don't know how I'd feel about jumping in the pool fully clothed though...

Would you ever leisure dive?

Have a great day!

Meeting the Parents

Happy Friday!

As many of y'all know this is a Friday of mixed emotions for me.  Today is my last day with The Cuties for the summer.  Monday I start student teaching and while I'm really looking forward to it, I'm not quite ready for summer to be over.  On the other hand though, I'm very excited that the weekend is here and Bryce will be home from the beach tomorrow.

Additionally, this weekend is a big one...tomorrow night I am meeting Bryce's parents--all FOUR of them!  (His parents are divorced and both remarried, so I will be meeting his mom, dad, step-mom, and step-dad!)  I'm excited to meet them and actually only a little nervous.

In honor of the big meeting I thought it would be fun to share a hilarious clip from one of my favorite movies:  Meet the Parents.  I'm a huge movie fan and this is one of the movies I could watch over and over again!

Hope this puts a smile on your faces!

Do you have any funny stories from a time when you met "the parents?"  What are your plans for the weekend?

Have a good one!

The Diaper Heroes

Happy Hump Day!

Before I start today's post, I wanted to say thank you for all your sweet comments yesterday.  I worried y'all would get tired of hearing about my new romance and want me to get back to my usual posts, but after all of your comments, I guess Bryce is here to stay on the blog, ha!  He is coming over to have a grilled cheese lunch with the Cuties and me today.  Tomorrow morning he leaves for a business trip until next Saturday, the 23rd, so don't worry if you don't hear anything after today for the next week or so.

So now onto today's post!  I've been promising you an entertaining post and here it is!

Have I mentioned that the Cuties are really silly?  If not, I'm mentioning it now.  Every day with them is filled with lots of laughs and last Friday was no exception.

As I was cleaning the kitchen after lunch Friday, all of a sudden I hear the Cuties calling "Allie, Allie" when I looked up I saw quite the sight.  Cutie B used to have to wear pull-ups at night and now that he has graduated from them, there are still a few bags of pull-ups lying around.  When I looked up this is what I saw:

Meet the Diaper Heroes...

After snapping that first picture Cutie B exclaimed:  "Put it on the blog!!"
Diaper Girl and Diaper Boy..aren't they cute?

After hearing lots of their funny antics as the Diaper Heroes I suggested they come up with a skit.  And guess what--y'all get to enjoy it!  I have two of their "skits" on film and am sharing them with you today.  Prepare yourself for lots of laughs!

I have a second video that is even more hilarious than the first, but it won't seem to load.  I'll try again later!

I hope this post provided some Hump Day entertainment!

And don't forget, if you're ever in danger--the Diaper Heroes will be there!

Check out those MUSCLES!

Have a great day!

The Time I (Almost) Burnt the House Down

Hello and Happy Summer to everyone!

I hope today's post will bring a smile to your face and maybe even a few chuckles at my expense!

I'd like to think I'm a pretty good cook--I follow recipes and they usually turn out the way they should.  I'd also like to think I'm pretty smart...BUT, every now and then, I have what my family refers to as "blonde moments."

One of those moments was this past Saturday.  Remember the cupcakes we enjoyed at LPC's birthday celebration?  I made those yummy cupcakes, but not without a little excitement in the E household.

You see, I had two pans of cupcakes and wanted to put them both in at the same time.  The only problem is that our oven can be very finicky.  You have to have the racks in just the right spots.  If they're too high, whatever you're baking won't cook all the way through, and if they're too low, whatever you're baking will burn.  I decided to put the cupcakes on the two middle racks.  This was mistake #1!

I opened the oven to see that the bottom rack of cupcakes had risen onto the top rack and made quite the mess.  Here comes mistake #2...

Some batter had fallen to the bottom of the oven.  I thought to myself, if I leave it and wait for the oven to cool, the batter will have hardened and it will be an even  bigger pain to clean up.  I grabbed a napkin and quickly tried to scoop up the batter...

THE NAPKIN CAUGHT ON FIRE!

I immediately started yelling "FIRE! FIRE!"  My parents came running in, I threw the flaming napkin in the trashcan and began dumping cups of water onto it.  Luckily, the only casualty of this incident was the bottom racks of cupcakes and the poor incinerated napkin.

Ugly smooshed cupcakes--luckily it wasn't  a full tray!

Pretty top tray of cupcakes.

Ugly cupcakes with the excess shaved off and taste-tested by moi.

Through this mishap, I did discover that there's nothing a little pink can't fix!

The ugly cupcakes were made-over with pink icing!

I thought this little yellow cocktail umbrella would be a fun addition!

I put sprinkles on the top batch and took them to LPC's birthday celebration.

What are some of your funniest kitchen mishaps?

Have a great day!

A "Wow" for your Wednesday

Happy Hump Day!!

I had another post planned today, but my dad emailed me the below news clipping yesterday and I couldn't resist sharing...figured we could all use a good laugh today!

In case you can't read the article, it tells the story of a Florida woman who caused a wreck because she was SHAVING WHILE DRIVING...and no she wasn't shaving her underarms, or even her legs-- she was shaving her BIKINI REGION!!  Can you believe it?

That's not all:  It gets better...her EX-husband was steering from the passenger side as she shaved!

Her excuse to police was that she was on the way to a date with her boyfriend and wanted to be ready!

Below is an image of the culprit.  I think she could have worried a little more about other aspects of her look-- like those roots!

What's the craziest thing you've done while driving?

Also, as a side note thanks to The Social Knight who gave me the Versatile Blogger award weeks ago.  I've been so busy these last few weeks I completely forgot to add it to a post.  The rules are that you're supposed to link and thank the person that awarded you, share 7 random facts about yourself, and award 5 other bloggers, so here goes!

  1. I'm super organized and can be a tad OCD at times, for example I only write in black pen in my notebooks so that everything looks neat and organized.
  2. I absolutely LOVE rollercoasters!
  3. My full name is Alexandra, but when I was little, I insisted it must be "ALLIEzandra" because, it didn't make sense to have the nickname Allie if Allie wasn't in my full name.
  4. Even though I'm only 5'3, I very rarely wear heels because I'd rather be comfortable.  Flip flops and flat sandals are my go-to in the spring and summertime.  Boots and flats are my go-to in the fall and winter.
  5. Christmas is one of my favorite holidays, but what I love about Christmas is the season, not just the day-- choosing and wrapping presents, decorating the tree, listening to Christmas music, and the kind spirit everyone seems to have is what makes it so special to me.
  6. I still sleep with a bunny named Easteregg that I've had since kindergarten.  He's the same as the bunny on the Easter bonnet I posted here and I received him in my Easter basket after begging to have "a bunny like the one on my hat."  He's even been to Europe!
  7. I often fall asleep during movies.
And now...I'd like to award:  Classic AnnieLulu and DaisySimply Southern, Sweet, Sassy, and ClassySouthern Soul Mates, and A Picture a Day.
