Southern Proper Summer Fun Giveaway

TGIF, my friends!

I hope this post finds you well. Still in the summer blogging swamp a bit over here, but I am enjoying staying connected through Instagram!

Today's post is an exciting one, though, that certainly pulled me out of my slump a bit: A collaboration AND giveaway with Southern Proper!

I've been a longtime Southern Proper fan for Bryce, but more recently have been loving their new women's line. It is full of classic, preppy pieces with the utmost attention to detail. You may remember I first mentioned the line in this Five on Friday post back in March.

Well, after that post, I had the pleasure of meeting some of the Southern Proper ladies, and seeing the line in person, while at the Southern C Summit in Charleston.

Let me tell you, the pieces were just as fabulous in person as they had looked on my computer screen! That being said, you can imagine I was thrilled when Ashley of Southern Proper reached out wanting to collaborate. Ashley was sweet enough to send some goodies for both me AND you!

When it came to me, I knew I had to have the Chambray Dessie Skirt...I have been eyeing it for months, y'all! Wanting to provide you with a full Southern Proper look, I decided to also feature the White Ansley Blouse and the oh so fun Striped Caroline Flats. I also accessorized with the SoPro Sunglasses that are a part of the giveaway!

I paired my Southern Proper look with a red lip, and coral necklace to provide a little pop!

My Clare V clutch is always a favorite and you know I love some pattern mixing! I thought it went great with the chambray and stripes!

Please tell me some of you fellow bloggers feel as awkward as me when taking fashion photos? I tip my hat off to the real fashion bloggers out there. It isn't easy! This is just one of many outtakes! Bryce is a great sport!

These SoPro sunglasses are so fun! They are made in Italy by Red's Outfitters and have fabulous gold detailing, while also being eco-friendly. They also came with a great protective pouch!

You can shop  my entire look here:

To talk fit and detailing, I'll share that the clothing fits pretty true to size. The top is made of a durable eyelet, that's breezy for the summer heat! I am wearing a medium, as I typically size up a bit in button downs to avoid the dreaded gaping that can happen in the bust area. The skirt is a great lightweight chambray and I am crazy about the buttons and scallops! I am wearing a 6. The flats run slightly large. I am a true size 8, but wear a 7.5 in these.

And now friends, the moment you've been waiting for...THE GIVEAWAY! I titled this giveaway the Southern Proper Summer Fun Giveaway and timed it after the 4th for a reason. I think I've mentioned here before that I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with the July 4th holiday. The hate piece comes in because I always feel like after the 4th, summer flies by! Can any of y'all relate? That being said, a full 8 weeks still stand between us and Labor Day, so there is still plenty of time for summer fun! Not to mention the fact that, those of us who live in the South can still enjoy summer weather through September, and sometimes even into October! The fun is just beginning!

For this giveaway, I worked with Southern Proper to come up with all the essentials you'd need for some summer fun. I had hoped to photograph the pieces while at the river this past weekend, but the weather had other plans. The giveaway, valued at $180.50 includes the SoPro Sunglasses, Party Time Beach Towel, Embroidered Coozie, and a Seersucker Hat. To enter the giveaway, use the Rafflecopter widget below. The winner will be announced a week from today on July 15th. Good luck!

A HUGE thanks to Southern Proper for providing all of the pieces featured in this post!

What summer fun do you still have in store these next 8 weeks?

Have a great weekend!

Sift With Style Giveaway

Happy Hump Day readers!

I hope you are having a great week so far!

We have been having the most gorgeous weather here the last few days and it has been a treat!

I am excited today to share with you a styled look featuring a Sift with Style Millie Tassel Necklace. I first discovered Katie's fabulous necklaces when shopping in a local boutique, Bliss at 5812. I was immediately drawn to the necklaces because Katie uses bright colors and a mix of styles. They're offered at a great, reasonable price point as well, which has made them a go-to for gift giving!

All that being said, you can imagine I was very excited when Katie contacted me about styling a piece and hosting a giveaway. I decided to stray from my typical bright colors and am so glad I did. I chose the Millie with black beads and a mix of neutral colored tassels. It is the perfect mix of shades for fall.

Those of you who follow along on Instagram got a sneak peek of the necklace last week!

Keeping neutrals in mind, I decided to pair it with my absolutely favorite sweater of the season!

I found this sweater while shopping at The Dandelion in Irvington on a river weekend earlier this fall and am in love! It is oh so soft and the tunic cut makes it ultra flattering as well. It also comes in gray and I found it online here. The sweater looks great over my go-to Pixie Pants and y'all know I'm a sucker for my over-the-knee boots. Mine were bought last fall, but I found a nearly identical pair here.

Get my look here:

And now friends, you are in luck! I am giving away a Sift with Style Millie necklace on Instagram. Full directions are on the Instagram post here, BUT, I am giving my blog followers a bonus entry. If you follow via Google Friend Connect, be sure to mention it in a comment on my Instagram post and I will give you a bonus entry!

Best of luck!

Have a great day!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday readers!

Wow...it has been a busy week for me! The first part of the summer I had little to do and found myself laying on the couch A LOT. In the last two weeks, things have kicked into high gear, though, and I have been going, going, going and wishing I had time to kick back on the couch!

I started the week with high hopes of posting Mon/Wed/Fri, but clearly that didn't happen. This is the first week that I've posted more than once in quite some time though, so I count it as a success!

Today I am linking up with the 5 on Friday ladies!

ONE
Winner!
Congratulations to Lauren on winning my Peach Tea Monograms mason jar tumbler giveaway! Even if you didn't win, it is still your lucky day, because Peach Tea is offering 10% off to all my readers between now and next Friday, August 7! Just used code ALEXANDRABEE10 at checkout! I am really eyeing this.

TWO
Nordstrom Sale
This weekend is the last weekend to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

This is what I bought in the sale:

It is worth mentioning that I used the True Fit Calculator and it was spot on! For your reference, I am an XS in the two blouses and striped blazer, a 4 in the skirt and dress, and a 4P in the black blazer!

And this is what I'm wishing I could buy:

THREE
This dress...
I need it! We have a wedding in Maine next month and I think it is the perfect excuse to make the purchase!

FOUR
Drooling...
I want to make this dish in this kitchen. Now.

FIVE
Sassie Rocks @ Beaufort Linen Co
You may remember I mentioned Beaufort Linen Co in this "5 Shops to Follow" post a few weeks ago! They are one of my favorite Instagram feeds and I am dying to get my booty down to Beaufort and shop in the actual store! Since posting about them, Beaufort Linen Co has put me in touch with Sassie Rocks, a jewelry designer based out of the Azalea Coast of North Carolina.  Sassie makes bangles similar in style to Bourbon and Boweties, but many of her pieces have more of a coastal touch, staying true to her roots. I am in the process of working out a collaboration with Sassie Rocks and she asked me to share that she will be doing a trunk show at Beaufort Linen Co THIS SATURDAY, AUGUST 1 from 11 am to 6 pm! If you are in the area, I highly recommend stopping by for this fun event! I wish I could go myself!

What's on your mind this Friday?

Stay tuned next week for a NYC recap and a big update on my job search!

Have a great day!

Happy Friday readers!

This week was a busy one, but seemed to drag by for me.

Thanks for all your sweet comments last week. I am slowly, but surely getting through the emails that I have let pile up this summer!

I am excited today to be hosting a giveaway that has been in the works for quite some time with Peach Tea Monograms! Mother-Daughter Duo, Chloe and Lisa, who just so happen to both be teachers, reached out to me a few months ago with hopes of collaborating. They are giving away a monogrammed mason jar tumbler to one lucky reader! Those of you who follow along on Instagram will recognize mine below:

Not only is the tumbler cute, but it is also insulated, which has been great this summer! I take it with me on the go and have especially been using it a lot at the pool and river!

With lots of decal and color options, you are sure to find a personalization choice you love!

Versona Grand Opening

Happy Tuesday readers!

Did y'all have a good 4th of July weekend?

Ours was good, but jam packed with activities!

Those of you who follow along on Instagram, know that Emily of the blog Eloquently Emily and I recently were invited to the Versona Accessories Grand Opening in the Short Pump mall here in Richmond.

The store was huge and had accessories galore!  I felt like a kid in a candy shop!

Jewelry displays were organized by color scheme and/or style which made it easy to find exactly what you might be looking for to complete an outfit!

Emily and I had a lot of fun playing dress up with all the pretty baubles!

Being a bracelet girl, I found myself making lots of different stacks:

Emily was partial to the statement necklaces and we both were obsessed with this one:

We also both really liked their wide selection of simple gold stud earrings.

I also found this big bow ring and these colorful studs to be adorable.

When it comes to trendy jewelry, I don't like dishing out a lot of dough, and all the jewelry at Versona was very affordable!

Versona has stores throughout the country (most are located in the South), so check here to see if there is a store near you!

And now friends...it's your lucky day!  Versona was kind enough to send me two giftcards:  One to spend on myself and one to spend on YOU!

Next week, I will be giving aways two pieces of jewelry to one lucky reader!

One of the items featured in this post is in the giveaway.  Can you guess which one?

Do you embrace jewelry trends or just stick to the classics?

I try to mix it up with a little of both!

What are your favorite places to buy fun jewelry?

Have a great day!

One Kings Lane Spring Refresh

Happy Friday readers!

I am over the moon excited for today's post!

A few weeks ago, Chloe, of One Kings Lane, reached out to me, asking if I'd like to participate in their Spring Refresh challenge.

Saying yes was really a no brainer for me. One Kings Lane is one of my go-to's for home decor items and I was flattered to find out they were interested in my personal decor!

For those of you who aren't familiar with One Kings Lane, their site is similar to those of Rue La La or Joss & Main, but I prefer it over the other two.  The feature I like best is that rather than just having "Events" to shop, you can also search the entire site or shop by category.  They have an full vintage line as well. If you're not already a member, feel free to sign up using this link!  I have been reading their wonderful style blog lately, too, which you can browse here.  The Home Decor Handbook is a must read!

For Spring Refresh, bloggers were asked to post before and after pictures of a space in their home that has recently been refreshed for spring.  The refresh could be as simple as adding some fresh blooms or bright new pillows to a spot in your home, or, as complex as totally redoing a room.  I chose our sun room for the challenge and am so excited to show you the updates.

Welcome to my ultra-girlie sun room!

Here is a similar before picture of the space:
For a full tour of the room, before updates, click here.

As you can see, updates included: a new cowhide rug, the addition of leopard pillows & a moroccan pouf, as well as, new gold coffee and side tables.  I also added doors to the bottom of a bookshelf, which can be seen below!

Those who have followed the blog for a while, have known that the sun room has been my baby; since living together, Bryce and I have worked to find a balance between our styles.  One sacrifice Bryce made, though, was completely handing this room over to me.  It is my favorite spot for girl talk and wine, as well as blogging.  The vision I've had, however, has taken time and I am happy to say it is now 99.9% complete!

Here re some more pictures from the space.

The pouf provides the perfect cushion to kick my feet up.

As mentioned previously, I was inspired to makeover the Ikea Vittsjo nesting tables by Kristin, the blogger behind The Hunted Interior.  I initially was going to ditch the square table that nested on the end, however, decided to use it as a side table instead.  I think it gives the room such a clean look.

Before
The new tables really brighten up the space!

I also got around to ordering the doors to go on this bookshelf.  They have provided some necessary storage and give the bookshelf a more polished look.

Before

It's also worth mentioning, that adding the leopard pillows happened completely by accident.  I had bought the pillows for our living room, but one night when Bryce was having some guys over, he threw the pillows into the sun room.  As soon as I saw them, however, I knew they were meant for the space.

The room also gets a taste of spring with fresh blooms from our garden.  We have a large collection of peony bushes that we replanted from my grandmother's garden and I am so thrilled that they are thriving!  This one is as big as my hand!

This Very Charleston  book that we bought on Spring break has been a happy addition to the room!

The cowhide is one of my favorite changes in the room.  It's the perfect size and I love that the slate floor is now much more visible, really giving the room a porch feel.

So there you have it:  My Spring Refresh!

What do you think?

As mentioned, the room is now 99.9% complete.  My final steps include:
  • Finishing the tables: If you look closely, you'll notice the paint is crackled in a few spots. Those spots are in need of sanding and a fresh coat of paint.  I also need to give major thanks to Bryce.  This table makeover has been all him--I bought the paint and showed him Kristin's blog post and he has done the rest!  I also am planning to have a piece of glass or mirror cut for the bottom ledge of the table.  I am really looking forward to styling the table more, once those steps are done.
  • Knobs: I really would like to add some cute knobs to the bookshelf doors sometime in the near future.
  • Ceiling:  My dream would be to paint the ceiling light blue, a Southern tradition for porches, however that dream isn't likely to come true!

Any other thoughts or ideas for improving the space?

Have you refreshed your home with bits of spring?

Finally, congrats to Kelli, from the blog A Deeper Joy, for winning my Stella & Dot giveaway! Lucky for all of you readers, however, Lindsy is offering free shipping on any orders you make between now and the conclusion of my party on May 21.  To receive free shipping, please e-mail Lindsy directly to place your oder.  She can be reached here:  lindsywiltshire@gmail.com.  Here's a look at some of the pieces I'm eyeing:
