Anthem LemonAid

Happy Hump Day!  This week has been dragging by, so I'm hoping that the last half of the week will go by fast.

Last night I had a horrible migraine, so aside from writing this post, I didn't do much else, however, tonight I am hoping to get some blog reading time in and see what's going on in all of your lives!

Every summer, the Cuties and I have talked about having a lemonade stand.  Last year, we heard about Anthem LemonAid, a program in which people sign up to host lemonade stands as a fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network.  We decided that would really make our lemonade stand meaningful, but missed the deadline.  This year, we were sure to sign up in time and had our stand last Friday.

Anthem provides you with all of the supplies needed--lemonade, a pitcher, poster, balloons, stickers, and even a lemon hat.

We set up around noon.

Getting the balloons ready!

Cutie B is ready to attract customers in his lemon hat.

All set up!

The suggested donation for a glass of lemonade was $1.  The start of the day was slow and I started worrying we weren't going to sell anything.  That all changed quickly, though, and many people gave more than a dollar.  Our peak selling time was from about 12:30-1 pm, but we stayed out until 3 pm!

Cutie B decided to dance, sing, and shake maraccas to attract customers!
He even at one point started exclaiming "It will make your taste buds smooth" as a sales pitch!

Cutie A's turn in the hat
And I even had a turn...

All of us together!

We ended up making $84.80 total!  I donated an extra 20 cents to make it an even $85.  We're going to write the check together tomorrow and put it in the mail to Anthem!

South Moon Under

Happy Tuesday readers!

Remember last Monday I posted about this dress LPC and I found for her to wear to a deb party?

We found it at South Moon Under.  In the past I haven't been the hugest fan of SMU:  They've always had pretty cute stuff, but I've felt like a lot of the clothes were overpriced for their quality.  When I was shopping with LPC, though, I saw A LOT of things I really liked.  I've been working really hard to cut back on spending this summer, so I decided if I was still thinking about the things I saw a week later I would go back.  Well, my friends...Friday I went back.

I got this top:

I LOVE IT!  It is so flattering and actually a little darker/more of an emerald green in person.  I also put it on hold in red and am thinking I might have to go back..they say if you love something, to buy it in every color!

I also bought this clutch:

Turquoise and Bamboo...what more could you want?

If I had an unlimited budget, I also would have bought all of these...

They even have the best section with gifts and cute things for your home!  I could do a whole post just on this section, so here's just a little preview!

Are you dying to go to South Moon Under yet?  Are there any stores that have grown on you over time?

PS:  Have you checked out my Sundresses & Smiles Facebook page yet?  If not, click here and like it!

Have a fabulous day!

Humpback Rock

Happy Monday!

Did y'all have a good weekend?

Mine was fabulous and filled with clear skies and perfect temperatures!

I consider myself to be quite the girly girl, however, I also attempt to be outdoorsy at times.  I've been itching to go on a hike for a few weeks.  Since it was so pretty out, Saturday my cousin, CJE, and I  decided to be outdoorsy and head to Charlottesville for a hike.  One of my favorite things about C'ville is the mountains and all the fun outdoors activities it has to offer.

Humpback Rock, off the Blue Ridge Parkway, is one of the most popular hikes in the area and one I have now done three times.  It is a short hike, but pretty strenuous.

We started the hike a little after 2 pm.  The weather was PERFECT:  Low 70s, little humidity, and a nice breeze.

There are two trails to the top and we chose the one that I usually follow.  Before we got anywhere though, we were told that there was a Mama Bear and two Cubs on that trail so we quickly changed our route!

Ready to Go!

This rock was the perfect spot for a quick break!

Gorgeous!

Once we made it to the top we decided to have a picnic.  We had stopped at one of my favorite Cville spots, Bellair Market and got their hiking special.  For $23.99 we got two specialty sandwiches; two bags of chips or pieces of fruit; two bottles of water or cans of soda; two cookies or two brownies; and a cooler to carry it all in!

Ready to chow down!

GORGEOUS VIEWS!

CJE and Allie

I'm on top of the world!!

CJE is savoring the moment.

We stayed at the top for about an hour, chatting and taking in the views.

On our way down, we heard there had been a rattlesnake sighting RIGHT where we had picnicked and then we even saw a doe!  It let us get really close before it ran away!

so pretty!

this is with ZERO zoom!

I'm glad that the bears and snake were not seen by us, because I think the outdoorsy-ness in me would have vanished instantly and been replaced with a terrified lady!  The gentle doe was the perfect end of the hike for me!

Do you like to hike?

How was your weekend?

Have a wonderful day!

My First Meet-Up

TGIF!!

Last night, I had my first ever bloggy meet-up with cAc from Life in the Sweet Virginia Breeze.  cAc and I started our blogs around the same time and when we first started commenting back and forth on each other's blogs, I realized she looked really familiar.  Turns out, she used to coach swim team for the Cuties!

Over time, while blogging, we have gotten closer and closer and finally decided to have a meet-up!

We had dinner and one of my favorite places, Noodles & Company, and when I first walked up to cAc, I realized we both were wearing gold Jack Rogers, which was a funny coincidence, but not much of a surprise!  We ordered our food and then literally talked for almost 3 hours!  I had read on other blogs that when you meet-up with your blog-friends it usually is like you've known them forever, but I really didn't buy it...that has all changed now.  cAc and I have SO much in common and are already planning another hang-out sesh soon to continue our real-life friendship outside of the blog world!

Have you ever done a bloggy meet-up?

Have a fabulous weekend!

Essie Wicked Witch of the West

Happy Thursday!!

A few months ago I tried Essie nail polish for the first time.  I bought "Splash of Grenadine" and absolutely loved it.  The nail polish is a great quality--it goes on smooth and lasts for a really long time!

Last week, I was craving a new nail polish so I popped into Ulta to get an Essie.  They were running a Buy 2, Get 1 Free special, so I left with three new polishes:  Ballet SlippersCute As A Button, and Merino Cool.

Merino Cool, Cute As a Button, Ballet Slippers

I tend to only wear nail polishes that are shades of pink or red.  I love it when I see girls wearing darker nail polish or funky colors, but whenever I try them on me I literally cringe.

Last week, however, when I was getting one free, I figured I might as well try a funky color and consider it my free one..thus "Merino Cool."  When I first tried it, I literally put it on my pinky nail--exclaimed "Ewww" and took it off nicknaming it "Wicked Witch of the West" nail polish.

I decided to give it another try, though, thinking that maybe if I wore it for a few days it would grow on me.  This is my second day wearing it and I will say it has grown on me!

My Wicked Witch of the West Nails

What do y'all think?  Do you experiment with edgy nail polish colors or just stick to the classics?

In other news, lunch with Bryce and the Cuties went SO well yesterday!  He brought the Cuties water balloons and after lunch we preceded to have a huge water fight in the back yard.  Additionally, Cutie B is usually very slow to warm up to people and he and Bryce were instant buddies.  Bryce leaves this morning for a business trip until the 23rd.  I keep teasing him that when he comes back I'm going to have 5 new boyfriends, but it's really hitting me how much I'm going to miss him while he's gone!

Have a great day!
