Big plans for the weekend? We are headed to a cocktail party tonight and tomorrow I am taking 2 of my former students out to lunch. Otherwise, I am hoping for a relaxing weekend. It's been a busy few weeks and I'm exhausted!
Today I'm linking up with the 5 on Friday ladies and I'm asking for your help!

TWO
Draper James Francis Floral
I'm a huge Reese Witherspoon fan, so it probably comes as no surprise that I love her new Draper James line. That being said, most her ahhhh-dorable clothes are out of my price range, so I have yet to purchase anything. This print might be worth the splurge, though. I am in love! Which do you like best? I think I'm partial to the skirt!
THREE
Fuming!
Excuse me while I get on my soapbox for a moment, but this news bit from yesterday's Skimm has me SO angry!!! Women already have to face the glass ceiling and often their careers suffer because of motherhood. Now we're spying on them to predict their likelihood of getting pregnant. Not okay! By the way, do you Skimm? The Skimm sends a quick, witty overview of national and world news each weekday, that can be read in under 5 minutes. It's an easy way to stay tuned into current events and there are always links to read more about a piece that interests you. Sign up here.
FOUR
What's the saying? The only things certain in life are death and taxes? Taxes are no fun and I remember my first year of teaching being so upset when the cost to prepare my taxes was more than my actual refund. What a let down! The good news though, is that if you make less than $62,000 a year like me, you can file your taxes online for free thanks to United Way! This link will take you to the site! If you're in the Richmond area, there are also 13 Metrocash sites around town where you can have them prepared in person.
FIVE
Emoji Love
I almost didn't have a number 5 for ya. I feel like I'm running on empty today! But, I know I'm not the only one that is Emoji obsessed! I constantly wish I had Emojis on my regular keyboard and find myself especially wanting to use them when commenting on blogs. That being said, it cracks me up that Emojis are such a thing in our tech-filled world that people will even wear them! I don't know if I personally would go that far, but the necklace above is pretty cute!
What's on your mind today?
Have a great day!

There are a lot of awesome spots for drinks and dinner in DC! One of my absolute favorite restaurants is Lincoln! Definitely get in there if you can get a reservation. Cava Mezze has an AMAZING brunch on the weekends (endless brunch for $32 per person and penny mimosas!)--you might need reservations there too. You could also do one of the drag queen brunches, as well, if that's something that interests.
ReplyDeleteThere are tons of bars--it kind of depends on what area of DC you want to be out in. Hope you have a great time!
The workplaces trying to found out who might get pregnant is infuriating. It is just a reminder that if you work at a great place, you can't take it for granted because unfortunately, these places exist.
ReplyDeleteTry brunch at Paolo's, Tabard Inn or Founding Farmers. Frozen margaritas at Lauriol Plaza. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteYou need to get reservations at Le Diplomat. Seriously. One of my favorite restaurants anywhere. You will love it. Perfect for brunch, but need to make reservations now. Kapnos is fantastic as well. My NYC friends all went there there night before our wedding and loved it.
ReplyDeleteHere are a few others places to try: Jaleo, Provisions 14, Estadio, Birch and Barley. 14th street is really one of the best locations right now. So many different restaurants and bars.
The top of the W Hotel turns into a club. It gets really crowded, but if looking for a club type of scene try there.
We are in DC all the time. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Do you have a hotel yet? The Hotel DuPont is really reasonably priced and is really nice, plus their bar is great and it's close to everything.
I saw that on the Skimm this morning and it made my blood boil! As if women don't deal with enough scrutiny about their reproductive choices! Loving that Draper James print! If you get it, I'd love to hear a review :) I'm going to Nashville in June and definitely want to stop by the store!
ReplyDeleteLoving Draper James but not the price tag on just a top! And I was hoping that romper was actually a dress for me to wear to my sister's bridal shower!! Baby bump + romper = not cute.
ReplyDeleteI love Five on Friday posts! Just sent you a text, but you should definitely check out the POV rooftop in DC its amazing and so fun for a bachelorette! We went there on a special date night and it is still one of my most favorite experiences yet up here. My favorite restaurants are Birch and Barley (must have dessert!) and Momofuku.
ReplyDeleteI also saw MWH reccomend Le Diplomat which we had the other weekend and its amazing! A tight squeeze though so make reservations now.

It looks like you have gotten lots of recommendations already! I have to second Cava Mezze; there is one close to me and it is a great brunch spot. I haven't done the unlimited brunch, but it is such a good deal. You should try the French toast small plate if you go! I do also Skimm, and it is such an easy way to quickly get the news. That necklace is adorable too!
ReplyDeleteThat floral top! And with that I'm even MORE ready for spring than before. And with you on that Skimm post - totally maddening (though I do love the Skimm).
ReplyDeleteI love my Skimm emails each morning! I'm newly married and at a meeting this summer my boss's boss asked if I was pregnant and when I said no, he said "Oh good, I don't have to worry about you right now." I was IN SHOCK. Hope you're having a good weekend!

ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with everything by Draper James!! That skirt is adorable. I wish I had DC recommendations, but it's still on my 'to visit' list! It will probably be beautiful this time of year with the cherry blossoms coming out! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love love love that skirt & KS emoji necklace! :)
ReplyDeleteI just moved to DC and we went to Le Diplomat on Sunday! It was awesome but there are a lot of great places that have the bottomless mimosas which can be fun too! 14th Street has a lot of great places. It's best to try to get reservations ahead of time too, even if its just on open table to secure a spot! Cherry Blossom fesitval starts March 20th I think and there are some beer & wine festivals.
ReplyDeleteThat Floral top is seriously gorgeous! I FEEL YOU on the Skimm & that article they published. I was so pissed. Love the tax service recommendation too! xo, Champagne&Suburbs
ReplyDeleteI am headed to DC this weekend, so I loved all of these recommendations although I am sure your weekend will be a lot different than mine - Bachelorette weekend v. our gender reveal. haha. Have the best time!
